About 6 years ago Penn's Landing Corporation had a CCTV system installed, by
another security integrator, to view several properties along the waterfront. After years of disappointing service and failure to maintain a properly working system, Access Security Corp. was asked to upgrade the system's head end and restore proper functionality. Access Security started by installing a new console which holds all of the head end system components. The fiber modules, multiplexers, the matrix bay, CPU and hybrid digital video recorder are all enclosed in the console rack. The core of the system resides around a Pelco 9600 series matrix. This gives users control over the multiple PTZ cameras located along the waterfront. Two 32" LCD monitors were wall mounted with articulating arm brackets and mounted on a black back board to accent the monitor's images. On the console's desktop there is a matrix keyboard which controls the display of the two wall monitors. The DVR also has a 20" wide screen LCD monitor on the console desktop with a keyboard and mouse. From this control point a guard or user is able to see all of the cameras and retrieve and playback video of archived events. The new upgraded CCTV system has given Penn's Landing Corporation the site control and monitoring capabilities they originally desired for their large waterfront property. Access Security is currently in the process of upgrading the cameras to Day/Night Spectra IV cameras to further enhance the surveillance system's capabilities.
Waterfront Square Condominiums - Security Project
Phase II of the Waterfront Square Condominiums project has just been completed by Access Security Corp. Waterfront Square is located off Delaware Ave. just north of the Ben Franklin Bridge. When complete there will be five towers and over 950 units, a recreation center, a parking garage, and an enclosed park on the roof of the parking garage.
Access Security began Phase I of the project back in 2005 discussing with the owners their vision of the security system for the towers. The security is comprised of access control and cameras which sit on a dedicated fiber backbone. The access control system is made up of vehicle gate access, access doors into the buildings and elevator control. There are 40 cameras (a mix of IP and analog) that view the property and can be viewed and controlled from three concierge desks. Each concierge desk has a two monitor system for viewing the access control and the cameras. A PTZ camera controlled at the concierge desks is located on the outdoor park level and allows for a complete view of the park and walkways. "We are happy that the third tower is now complete and during this phase the project was converted to using IP cameras saving on cable and labor costs. As technology continues to advance the security industry Access Security will use this technology to enhance our customer's security and help reduce costs. We are happy to be a part of this project and look forward to working on towers 4 and 5." said Daniel Cogan president of Access Security.
